KUALA LUMPUR, MAR 3: The Selangor Government has appealed in court for the Election Commission’s (EC) Chairman to be called to testify in relation to doubts in the electoral registration, particularly involving the 136,272 voters who are missing.
Dato’ Menteri Besar, Dato’ Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali said EC’s statement is needed due to several ambiguous documents.
He said, in an affidavit response earlier, EC confirmed that the information was destroyed hence they were not able to provide them to the court.
“This is a serious matter, how other voters can retain their full names, addresses and other details while 136,272 voters in Selangor had their details missing in the registration.
“Hence, to get a precise statement, it is only fair for the EC Chairman to be called to testify,” he said.
He was speaking after attending the hearing for judicial review appeal in relation to EC’s delineation of electoral boundaries, at the Kuala Lumpur High Complex yesterday.
Following that, Mohamed Azmin said, Judge Azizul Azmi Adnan has set March 9 to decide on calling EC’s Chairman to court.
At the same time, Azmin who is also the KEADILAN Vice Presient is certain that the State Government has a good basis to ensure the following proceedings continue on the basis of precise information.
“At the moment, EC’s affidavit is unclear and require additional precise information,” he said.
