SHAH ALAM, July 14 — Kolej Mara Banting (KMB) has emerged as one of the best International Baccalaureate (IB) colleges in the world with an average achievement of 40 points in the IB examination in May 2021, surpassing the world average of 33.02 points.
Majlis Amanah Rakyat (Mara) chairman Datuk Azizah Mohd Dun said 141 students, or 96.6 per cent of those who sat for the test achieved results above 35 points, while 52.05 per cent scored 40 points and above.
She said last year, the college's average result was 38 points, with 86.6 per cent of the students scoring above 35.
"This proves that KMB is one of the best IB colleges in the world that not only has a 100 per cent passing rate, but has an average score which is higher than the world average," she said in a statement today.
Azizah said KMB was a pre-university preparatory college that had implemented the IB programme since 1992, and had produced a total of 10,093 IB Diploma graduates, most of whom had furthered their studies at world-renowned educational institutions.
"Last year, a total of 74 KMB students managed to enter the world’s top 50 universities due to their excellent results in the IB examination. Mara hopes that this year, with this excellent achievement, more students will be accepted into the world's best institutions.
"This is Mara's goal in ensuring that more Bumiputera students have access to further their studies in fields and universities that they have always dreamt of," said Azizah.
