SHAH ALAM, March 25 — As of Monday, over 95 per cent domestic waste from over the Aidilfitri season has been collected from areas under eight local councils’ jurisdiction, said KDEB Waste Management Sdn Bhd (KDEBWM).
In a statement on Facebook, KDEBWM said waste collection is going well, with 100 per cent of trash picked up in areas under the Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ), Sepang Municipal Council (MPSepang), Hulu Selangor Municipal Council (MPHS), and Sabak Bernam District Council (MDSB).
Areas where more than 95 per cent of waste has been collected are under the Klang Royal City Council (MBDK, 99 per cent), Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ, 98 per cent, with one back-up evening and nighttime zone), Selayang Municipal Council (MPS, 96 per cent), and Shah Alam City Council (MBSA, 95 per cent).
Meanwhile, KDEBWM has collected 90 per cent of Aidilfitri-time waste in areas under the Kuala Selangor Municipal Council (MPKS), 89 per cent under the Kajang Municipal Council (MPKj), 88 per cent under the Kuala Langat Municipal Council (MPKL), and 85 per cent under the Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ).
All the data was the latest as of 1.30pm on Monday, and waste collection will continue throughout the festive season.
Previously, KDEBWM reported that domestic waste collection increased by 30 per cent throughout Aidilfitri.
Meanwhile, KDEBWM senior operations manager Mohd Idris Mohamed Yusof said the increase was due to festive open houses.
