SHAH ALAM, March 22 — State-owned solid waste management company KDEB Waste Management (KDEBWM) expects domestic waste collection to increase by up to 30 per cent throughout the Hari Raya Aidilfitri festive season.
Its senior general manager of operations Mohd Idris Mohamed Yusof said the rise is due to festive activities, including the hosting of open houses and the practice of visiting relatives and friends.
In light of this, the company has organised its operations to ensure the daily collection of over 7,000 tonnes of waste runs smoothly.
“KDEBWM may also increase collection operations or deploy additional lorries as a preparatory measure should any issues arise,” he told Media Selangor.
Earlier this month, KDEBWM managing director Dato' Ramli Mohd Tahir said the company had taken proactive steps to ensure more efficient waste collection in Selangor following operational disruptions in several areas, including Selayang and Kuala Selangor, over the past few weeks.
He added that the disruptions occurred during operational adjustments to restructure the solid waste collection system, making it more organised and efficient.
