Indonesia temporarily suspends outbound international flights amid West Asia tensions

JAKARTA, March 17 — Indonesia has temporarily suspended all outbound international flights as a precautionary measure in response to the escalating conflict in West Asia.

ANTARA news agency reported State Secretariat Minister Prasetyo Hadi as saying that all international air travel plans are currently on hold following the government’s decision.

“All are on hold. On hold,” he told the media after attending a coordination meeting on the President’s Priority Programme today.

Prasetyo added that the government has yet to determine when flight operations would resume, noting that the suspension would remain in effect until conditions are deemed safe for both national and international airlines.

“Yes, until an unspecified time limit,” he said.

The move is a direct response to the worsening security situation in Iran, with the decision made to ensure the safety of Indonesian citizens.

The minister noted that the measure aims to prevent potential fatal risks arising from geopolitical tensions along global flight routes.
