Minister: Enforcement agencies hand over 335 cases to KPDN as of May

PUTRAJAYA, July 3 — Approximately 335 cases have been submitted to the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN) by enforcement agencies from January 1 to May 31, said Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali.

The number was part of the total 2,811 cases recorded since 2021, resulting from strategic cooperation between KPDN and several enforcement agencies.

“All these case submissions involve various legal frameworks, including smuggling and abuse of subsidised controlled goods. These case submissions were made through arrests by all agencies involved and submitted to the KPDN for further action.

"Apart from that, we also carried out integrated operations with these enforcement agencies,” he said during a press conference after attending the Strategic Partner Appreciation Ceremony in conjunction with KPDN Enforcement Day celebration today.

Armizan added that among the agencies that recorded the highest number of case submissions were the General Operations Force (1,146 cases), followed by the Marine Police Force (866 cases), the Royal Malaysia Police (661 cases), and the Malaysian Armed Forces (69 cases).

The consistent increase in the number of case submissions reflected the success of the integrated efforts between KPDN and enforcement agencies, thus strengthening the implementation of more structured and focused operations.

“We hope that this existing cooperation can continue to be strengthened to empower the functions of KPDN, especially in dealing with issues of abuse of controlled and subsidised goods as well as smuggling activities abroad,” he said.
