SHAH ALAM, Nov 15 – The Selangor Youth Council (MBS) has affirmed its commitment to advancing the state’s youth development agenda, particularly in establishing a comprehensive ecosystem to benefit young people and university students.

In a statement today, MBS President Datuk Mohd Imran Tamrin expressed gratitude to Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari for recognising the council’s role during the tabling of the 2025 Selangor State Budget earlier today.

“As an organisation representing youth, MBS has expressed its readiness to act as a strategic enabler to ensure the effective implementation of initiatives related to youth, young adults, and education,’’ said Mohd Imran.

Imran said the council is focused on developing youth competencies through capacity-building programmes designed to cultivate future leaders, beginning at the secondary school level and extending into higher education.

MBS also aims to empower education for Selangor’s youth by working alongside the state government and stakeholders to foster a knowledgeable and competitive society.

It also seeks to advance the Malaysia Madani aspirations by aligning with the national vision emphasising unity, sustainability, and innovation, specifically tailored to Selangor’s development needs.

Describing the 2025 budget as comprehensive, Mohd Imran also said that it reflects the state government’s dedication to public welfare, focusing on inclusivity and balanced societal growth.

He said the collaborative approach aims to position the Selangor Budget 2025 as a catalyst for both economic and social progress, creating more opportunities for youth and young adults.

Earlier in his state budget speech at the State Legislative Assembly, Amirudin said the state has committed RM8.7 million for 2025 to help create a more holistic ecosystem to help support good social development of tertiary students.

The state government plans to engage with key stakeholders as well as state youth organisations to achieve these goals.

A total of RM3 billion is allocated for the 2025 Selangor Budget, an increase of RM470 million compared to this year’s budget.

Themed ‘A Dynamic Selangor: An Ideal Quest for a Civil Malaysia,’ the state budget has five main thrusts, namely Artificial Intelligence and Education as a Catalyst for State Economic Development, Uplifting an Aspiration of a Sustainable Environment and Quality Infrastructure, Promoting a Compassionate State, Championing an Efficient and Responsible System of Government, and Breathing New Life into the Creative Economy and Developing the Next Generation.
