SHAH ALAM, Oct 25 — The Selangor Utility Corridor (Kusel) is constructing an underground utility database system to facilitate online access in new and existing development areas.

Its managing director, Khairul Azmi Misran, said the Selangor Utility Corridor Geographical Information System (Selgis), developed in stages since August, also eases data integration with various information sources.

"Selgis also streamlines the planning and approval processes for the government and the local authorities, in addition to making informed decisions concerning utility infrastructure development.

"This consequently leads to to long-term cost savings," he said when contacted today.

Khairul added that utility permit applications have been met with positive responses from the local authorities, the District and Land Offices, the Public Works Department, and the Irrigation and Drainage Department.

"Sound cooperation between Kusel and the relevant parties is crucial in the state's utility industry landscape. Hence, there is a need to reevaluate the workflow processes of both sides.

"We are organising coordination workshops to identify improvements and to keep the authorities informed of the application status throughout Kusel's operations," he said.
