Probe into attack on Rafizi’s son jeopardised if details revealed — Minister

SHAH ALAM, Jan 28 — The Home Ministry (KDN) cannot publicly confirm details of an investigation into the attack on Pandan MP Rafizi Ramli’s son, as the disclosure could hinder suspect-tracking and put main witnesses at risk.

Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said this in a written parliamentary reply to Rafizi’s question on whether the ministry could publicly disclose details previously shared with him on December 1, concerning the attack on his son on August 13 last year.

“Regarding the request to publicly confirm information on the investigation, I wish to clarify that doing so in Parliament could disrupt efforts to track the suspects and endanger key witnesses. Therefore, the request cannot be granted,” Saifuddin explained.

However, he assured justice would be served, and that information that can be safely disclosed will be released in official KDN or police statements.

The August 13 attack saw Rafizi’s only son, aged 12, assaulted by unknown suspects at a mall in Putrajaya.

Rafizi claimed the attackers were two men dressed in black and helmets on a motorcycle, and one allegedly dragged his son before jabbing him with a syringe.
