Blurry CCTV footage hinders efforts to identify attackers of Rafizi's son

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 17 — The police are facing challenges in identifying two suspects in the attack on the son of former economy minister Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli on August 13 at a shopping mall in Putrajaya.

Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail said that although initial investigations revealed the presence of several individuals at the scene, the poor quality of the CCTV footage is hindering identification.

“We have detected movement, which we believe was made by the suspects. The CCTV footage showed several individuals.

“However, the recording is not clear enough to properly recognise the individuals involved,” he said during a press conference at the Police Training Centre (Pulapol) today.

When asked about the liquid substance that was injected into the MP's son, Khalid said the hospital is still conducting an analysis.

On August 25, it was reported that Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad had requested all parties to patiently await the findings of the medical report.

He said the matter is still under investigation and treatment and requires more time to be fully resolved.

Previously, on August 22, Khalid confirmed that the police had taken statements from 19 individuals, including Rafizi’s family members, as part of the investigation into the attack on the 12-year-old boy.
