SUBANG JAYA, Dec 18 — The Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ) has spent RM82.9 million for domestic and bulk waste collection in areas under its jurisdiction from January 1, 2026, to December 31, 2033.

Subang Jaya Mayor Dato’ Amirul Azizan Abd Rahim said that under the new contract, KDEB Waste Management Sdn Bhd (KDEBWM) has provided it with 77 trash compactors and 94 arm roll (roro) lorries.

“MBSJ has reappointed KDEBWM as the existing deal ends on December 31, 2025, with an increase of RM9.6 million from RM73.3 million a year to RM82.9 million,” he said.

“MBSJ has added RM3 million for solid waste collection and RM6.6 million for public cleansing,” Amirul told reporters after a handover ceremony for the vehicles at Hutan Bandar USJ 3C here today.

He said the extra allocation will allow KDEBWM to improve service quality, especially in addressing the issue of rubbish clogging main drains.

“Improvements will be made next year to KDEBWM’s scope of public cleansing works at playgrounds in residential areas and public football fields,” he explained.

Amirul said he hopes KDEBWM improves its promotional efforts so more residents use the iClean app to channel complaints.

Yesterday, KDEBWM managing director Dato’ Ramli Mohd Tahir said most local councils in Selangor will use new trash compactors and roros next year.

He said the higher-capacity vehicles will allow for more garbage to be collected and avoid damage that could affect operations.

Ramli said every complaint KDEBWM receives, be it through the iClean app or elected representatives, will be resolved in 24 hours.
