SHAH ALAM, Nov 26 — The majority of flood victims housed at temporary relief centres (PPS) around the city have now been allowed to return home following improved weather conditions.

The Shah Alam City Council's (MBSA) deputy secretary (management) Shahrin Ahmad said they remain on heightened preparedness should floods recur.

"The Special Action Squad (Pantas) emergency response team is on full standby mode with 24-hour monitoring and patrols, especially in high-risk areas. Although the PPS are being closed in stages as victims return home, we are always ready to reactivate them if a disaster occurs.

"We also ensure that every hall is maintained in optimal condition in terms of cleanliness, electricity supply and other facilities, including adding mobile toilets if necessary," he told the press after the MBSA Women Against Violence Day Celebration Programme at the MBSA Convention Centre today.

Shahrin added that the council consistently works with the Social Welfare Department, KDEB Waste Management Sdn Bhd, and the Land and District Office to ensure the surroundings remain well-managed.

He advised residents, particularly those in low-lying areas, to remain alert to weather forecasts and comply with instructions issued by the authorities from time to time.
