SHAH ALAM, March 22 — The 2km Schematic Precast System (SPS) along Sungai Klang will be activated in Uptown Section 24 to mitigate floods in the area, said Batu Tiga assemblyman Danial Al-Rashid Haron.
He said works would be completed by year end.
According to him, the SPS, which originated in Indonesia, is a construction method using pre-poured concrete structures.
“This system is aimed at strengthening river embankments and increasing water flow capacity to help reduce flood risks in the area,” Danial said in a Facebook statement on Wednesday.
Earlier that day, he joined state executive councillor for infrastructure and agriculture Dato’ Izham Hashim on a site visit to the SPS base at Sungai Klang, and received a technical briefing from the Irrigation and Drainage Department (JPS) and Selangor Maritime Gateway (SMG) on the project.
“I hope this project brings long-term benefits to local residents,” Danial said.
