KUALA LANGAT, Nov 22 — Over 5,000 visitors are set to throng the #KitaSelangor Blueprint and i-SEED Carnival, which features offerings from 300 traders over two days at Morib Beach Square here.
State executive councillor for human resources and poverty eradication Papparaidu Veraman said the inaugural programme is a stage for traders to expand their markets and generate more income, in line with Selangor’s agenda to empower small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
“These traders are all recipients of Blueprint (Selangor State Poverty Eradication Blueprint Assistance Programme) and i-SEED (Indian Selangor Empowerment and Entrepreneurs Development). We gathered them at this event to showcase their success after receiving assistance (from the state initiatives).
“This carnival was only supposed to last a day, but encouraging response allowed it to be extended to tomorrow,” he told Media Selangor.
He added that the carnival is set to be an annual affair, in efforts to ensure more traders statewide receive continuous benefits.
“These traders aren’t just from Kuala Langat, but from across Selangor. This gives them opportunities to expand their product sales.”
Papparaidu also said the Blueprint and i-SEED programmes, which offer business equipment, have received an encouraging response. RM2 million in allocations for each scheme has been successfully distributed.
“Many are interested, but we had to limit it. Maybe under the 2027 budget, we can request a larger amount so more traders can be helped,” he said.
Besides trader booths, the carnival also features interesting activities such as:
Free health screening
Telematches and cooking contests
Children’s play area
Government agency exhibits
Traffic summonses discount counter
Free oil changes for motorcycles
Visitors will also be entertained by performances from popular artistes, including Ukays and Keena Mentor, tonight.
The carnival will also see the naming of #KitaSelangor Blueprint and i-SEED Award winners, who were chosen based on factors including product innovation, sales growth, and community impact.
Funding agencies such as TEKUN Nasional, Yayasan Hijrah Selangor and Koperasi Hijrah Selangor Bhd (Kohijrah) will hold entrepreneurial courses, while SME Corp, Perbadanan Usahawan Nasional Bhd (PUNB), and HRD Corp will provide training and additional support.
Also involved in the event are the Selangor Information Technology and Digital Economy Corporation (Sidec), Malaysian Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC), and Selangor Digital E-Supply Chain (Seldec), which offer digitalisation initiatives for petty traders.
