KUALA LANGAT, Nov 22 — Entrepreneurs under the Poverty Eradication Blueprint Assistance and i-SEED programmes have the opportunity to expand their markets internationally through participation in major exhibitions like the Selangor International Business Summit (SIBS).

State executive councillor for human resources and poverty eradication Papparaidu Veraman said the state government’s approach is not merely to provide basic assistance, but to build the capacity of entrepreneurs so that they are able to be self-reliant and escape poverty sustainably.

“We do not simply give them fish, but give them fishing rods and knowledge so that they can stand on their own. Through courses and guidance, they can strengthen their businesses,” he said.

Papparaidu added that several entrepreneurs who took part in SIBS succeeded in breaking into Arab markets by exporting crisps, proving that the quality of local products is increasingly trusted.

However, he noted that market access and connectivity remain key challenges; therefore, international-standard exhibitions such as SIBS are the best platforms for product promotion.

“We may discuss with the state executive councillor for investment Ng Sze Han to explore opportunities to provide slots or discounts for entrepreneurs interested in joining overseas exhibitions. This can help them climb to a higher level,” Papparaidu said.

He was speaking to the press after launching the Blueprint and i-SEED Kita Selangor 2025 Carnival at Dataran Pantai Morib yesterday.

The councillor said that many entrepreneurs are now leveraging Facebook Live and TikTok Live to expand product reach.

“For example, a woman entrepreneur succeeded in securing a contract to supply traditional cakes to Petronas. Although she is facing some minor technical issues, we are helping to resolve them.

“What matters is that entrepreneurs have the interest and determination to progress. The Government will not turn away those who make an effort,” Papparaidu said.
