SHAH ALAM, Nov 17 — Several members of GISB Holdings Sdn Bhd (GISBH) will face new charges under state law, said state executive councillor for Islam and innovation Dr Fahmi Ngah.
He said the GISBH members previously convicted have served their sentences and were freed on good behaviour.
“It’s not a question of being not guilty; the wrongdoing is still there. They underwent the minimum sentence and were freed upon fulfilling conditions,” he said when met at the Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Building here today.
Fahmi said the group is still being monitored and charges are being prepared for filing in court.
“This case is under the state’s jurisdiction, involving several individuals in GISBH,” he said without elaborating.
On November 7, GISBH chief executive officer Nasiruddin Mohd Ali, a son of an Al-Arqam founder, and 11 GISBH leaders were freed after serving a 13-month, 20-day sentence at Sungai Buloh Prison.
