SHAH ALAM, Nov 15 – Selangor’s Mega Road Resurfacing Programme, which will kick off in January next year, will be expanded to include village roads and agricultural areas using Indonesia’s Precast Reinforcement System technology.
State executive councillor for infrastructure and agriculture Dato’ Izham Hashim said the technology has been tested and proven effective in stabilising soft-structured soil, especially in areas affected by tyre pressure.
“We have seen its effectiveness. Following our observation and checks, it was found to be cheaper and speeds up the work.
“As a pilot project, we had it done in Bagan Pasir, and it was successful. When the sea level rises, it remains intact compared to previous times when it would easily erode,” he told Media Selangor.
Izham said that in the coming year, the road resurfacing project will also utilise England’s JetPatcher technology to ensure that the maintained roads are more durable and of superior quality.
He stated that the technology will be implemented on roads under the supervision of local authorities, with each zone receiving a JetPatcher machine valued at RM1 million.
“This time, there is an improvement. We will use new technology to patch potholes. We will divide the area into five zones, with each zone allocated RM5 million for implementation.
“We have tested the technology this year, and it has proven to be very effective in ensuring the quality of the road patches lasts,” he said, adding that the use of the machinery will be expanded to five zones in Selangor.
Yesterday, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the state government has approved RM55 million in its budget for the project in the following year, an increase from last year’s RM50 million allocation.
