WCE: All procedures completed for 19 Kg Jawa landowners

KUALA SELANGOR, Nov 10 — All necessary procedures, including discussions with residents and legal processes, have been completed following the order for 19 landowners in Kampung Jawa, Klang, to vacate their land for the West Coast Expressway (WCE) project.

Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari said there would be no further negotiations, particularly on the compensation, as all processes, including arbitration, have been finalised.

“All procedures, including court and arbitration processes, have been completed. The compensation was determined by the arbitrator, not the developer, and I believe it was fair and reasonable.

“I hope all parties act responsibly so the matter can be resolved. The state government will provide assistance where needed.

"A 150-metre stretch in Kampung Jawa should not delay the entire WCE project,” he told the press after officiating the Eco Grandeur Interchange on the Kuala Lumpur–Kuala Selangor Expressway (Latar) today.

Also present were Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi and EcoWorld president cum chief executive officer Datuk Chang Khim Wah.

Amirudin added that the state government has approved an extension until November 24 to give affected residents more time to relocate.

“We have given a few extra days to allow them to move. Two weeks should be enough, as I have discussed and approved their final request for an extension,” he said.

When asked about claims that some parties were framing the issue along racial lines, the Menteri Besar said the government’s actions were carried out in the public interest.

Earlier, the state government announced the two-week extension, from today until November 24, for the 19 Kampung Jawa landowners affected by the vacate order for the WCE project.
