SHAH ALAM, March 23 — Registration for the 2026 Basic Language Classes under the Language Discovery@Selangor Library programme for the fourth intake is now open to the public.
The Selangor Public Library Corporation said the classes are offered free of charge to Selangor residents through state government subsidies.
“Among the languages offered are English, Arabic, German, French, and Mandarin. Priority will be given to those who have previously registered for a Language Discovery account,” it said in a Facebook post.
Registration can be made at www.ppas.gov.my/language_discovery, and members of the public seeking further information may contact 016-206 4264 or 011-5879 1664.
Previously, Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari said the state is offering free online foreign-language classes starting this year as part of efforts to strengthen multilingual skills and foster unity among the people.
The approach reflects the state government’s belief that language is a strength that enables Malaysia to compete globally, rather than a source of division.
As such, he announced a special RM500,000 allocation last week to implement the programme.
