SHAH ALAM, Oct 26 — Selangor students pursuing higher education at the state’s three institutions will soon enjoy special incentives under a new initiative to be announced in the 2026 Selangor Budget.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the initiative will involve Universiti Islam Selangor (UIS), Universiti Selangor (Unisel), and the Selangor Technical Development Centre (STDC).

The move aims to ensure that Selangor youth receive the best possible educational support after completing their Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examinations.

“These three institutions belong to the state government to ensure that our children, especially Selangor residents, have the opportunity to further their studies,” he said during the closing ceremony of the Skor A+ Seminar yesterday.

Amirudin, who also oversees the education portfolio, added that the state’s strong financial reserves and robust economic growth have enabled greater investment in the education sector.

“In Selangor, we want everyone to feel the difference, where the government provides opportunities through our own institutions and funds.

"Alhamdulillah (God be praised), we are a developed state. But more importantly, we want to ensure that our children’s education remains secure with continued support from the state government,” he said.

The Menteri Besar noted that Selangor’s focus on education is aligned with its agenda to nurture competitive human capital capable of driving the state’s progress.

This year’s Skor A+ Seminar, organised by Yayasan Selangor in collaboration with the Selangor State Education Department, saw the participation of UIS and Unisel for the first time and involved over 2,000 top SPM candidates from 10 districts across Selangor.
