SHAH ALAM, Oct 24 — The state government is closely monitoring the flood situation affecting several districts in Perak following heavy rainfall yesterday.

Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari said he is confident that the Federal government is intensifying efforts to channel aid to the affected victims.

“So far, I have been informed that the National Disaster Management Agency (Nadma) and the relevant ministries are managing assistance in stages.

“We will assess the need to provide additional support, as the state government’s current focus is on preparedness in Selangor, which is also at risk of being affected by disasters,” he said.

Amirudin was speaking to the press during the flag-off ceremony for the State Disaster Management Squad in conjunction with the launch of the National Preparedness Month 2025 at the State Secretariat Building's square today.

He added that aid disbursements for the recent tornado are progressing smoothly, indicating that Selangor's preparedness remains satisfactory.

As of this morning, 2,171 flood victims from 759 families are still housed at 22 temporary relief centres (PPS) in the districts of Manjung, as well as Larut, Matang, dan Selama (LMS).

According to the State Disaster Management Committee, three PPS have been opened in Manjung, while 19 are operating in the LMS district.
