Selangor, Switzerland boost economic, education cooperation

SHAH ALAM, Sept 3 — Selangor is exploring stronger economic and education ties with Switzerland, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said today.

This is following a courtesy visit by Swiss Ambassador to Malaysia Chantal Moser to the State Secretariat Building here.

Amirudin said the meeting focused on opportunities for collaboration in technical and vocational education and training (TVET) and strategic sectors such as the Integrated Development Region in South Selangor (Idriss), aviation, and semiconductors.

“We also spoke about investments and existing businesses in Selangor, where I emphasised our investor-friendly model that prioritises efficiency and faster processes,” he said in a post on X.

Amirudin said both sides exchanged views on global trade challenges, especially the implications of the United States’ newly imposed tariffs.

He praised Moser’s extensive diplomatic and economic policy experience, calling her a strong partner in strengthening Selangor-Switzerland ties.

“With her distinguished career across Brussels, Lima, Warsaw, London and now Kuala Lumpur, and her expertise in economic and financial affairs, H.E. Chantal Moser brings invaluable perspective.

“Her multilingual ability and international policy experience will support closer collaboration, particularly in driving innovation, investment and sustainable growth,” Amirudin said.

Moser assumed the role of Switzerland’s head of mission in Malaysia in January.
