GOMBAK, March 4 — The Selangor government has trained more than 4,000 students in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen human capital development and enhance the employability of the state’s workforce.

Menteri Besar Dato Seri Amirudin Shari said the state administration allocated between RM20 million and RM26 million to implement and reinforce the training programmes.

He said the investment had yielded positive results, with more than 1,700 trainees who completed training with major companies successfully securing jobs and enjoying significant salary increases.

“1,700 individuals we have trained are now employed after undergoing TVET training with Siemens, KMX, Matrix, Apple, BMW and Dassault Systèmes.

“They have also received salary increases from RM1,700 to RM4,000,” he said when speaking at the Jaulah Ramadan programme here yesterday. Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek was also present.

Amirudin stressed that education is the key to Selangor’s continued success in maintaining its position as the country’s leading economic contributor.

“Selangor does not possess vast natural resources such as gold, silver or petroleum. Our strength lies in our human capital.

“To remain competitive, Selangor must continue to empower the education sector,” he said.

Previously, the state government introduced the Selangor Career Outreach (SCOUT) programme to ensure a steady supply of skilled workers aligned with industry needs.

The initiative, announced under the Selangor Budget 2026, aims to connect academic institutions with industry players, producing talented workers and expanding job opportunities across the state.

The strategy is in line with the federal government’s Central Region Initiative, launched on November 11, involving strategic collaboration between Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan and Melaka as Malaysia’s most dynamic economic zone.
