KLANG, Aug 28 — Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj today symbolically received sponsorship worth RM1.5 million for The Sultan of Selangor Cup (TSSC) 2025.
TSSC chairman and team manager Tan Sri Abd Karim Munisar said that for this year’s edition, the state government gave RM1.05 million, which was presented by State Secretary Dato’ Ahmad Fadzli Tajuddin.
Karim said Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated), or MBI, Permodalan Negeri Selangor Bhd, and KDEB Waste Management each contributed RM100,000.
“RM50,000 was received each from Tenaga Nasional Bhd, Air Selangor, and Selangor Utility Corridor (Kusel). Construction and property development firm Kumpulan Tanjung Balai sponsored a Perodua Bezza and two smartphones.
“Aerofront City Development also sponsored a Perodua Bezza and exclusive stays at Marriott Kota Kinabalu and Noble Resort Melaka as part of the TSSC lucky draw gifts,” he said.

Karim was speaking at the TSSC sponsors’ cheque presentation ceremony at Istana Alam Shah here today.
Also present were Raja Muda of Selangor Tengku Amir Shah and Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.
The 21st edition of the TSSC will be held September 27 at Stadium Merdeka in Kuala Lumpur, a historic venue will be hosting the event for the second year straight.
Last year, even amid a downpour, TSSC drew over 20,000 supporters to watch Selangor thrash Singapore 2-1 and clinch a three-year hattrick, having previously won in 2019 and 2023.
Karim added that TSSC isn’t a mere match, but a symbolic event to encourage brotherhood and nostalgia for local football between two regional powers — Selangor and Singapore — which have locked horns 23 times at the Malaysia Cup finals.
