OSAKA, May 7 — Halal International Selangor (HIS) Toyyiba Sdn Bhd has shared its expertise in halal certification and logistics service management with industry players in Japan.
The presentation, held in conjunction with the Expo Osaka 2025 in Kansai, served as a facilitative platform for small and medium-sized entrepreneurs in the Land of the Rising Sun to penetrate the global halal market, said the state executive councillor for Islamic affairs and innovation Dr Mohammad Fahmi Ngah.
He said the current global halal industry is estimated to be worth around US$3 trillion (RM12.7 trillion), catering to a market of two billion Muslims worldwide.

“Of this total, the food and beverage (F&B) market accounts for approximately 35 per cent, while Islamic finance systems contribute around nine to 10 per cent annually.
“The potential is immense, and HIS training assures industry players that the production process, from manufacturing to logistics, complies with standards and guarantees halal status,” Fahmi said.
Speaking after the presentation, he said a Japanese consultancy firm has expressed its interest in undergoing training on the halal certification process offered by HIS.
Following this, Fahmi hopes more local companies in Japan will take part in HIS’ halal ecosystem programme to expand their product reach.
“Interested investors may contact HIS for more information on how we can help grow their business and enable them to break into the halal industry across Asia and the world,” he said.
Selangor participated alongside the Investment, Trade, and Industry Ministry in organising the Malaysia Pavilion exhibition at the world expo, which involves participation from 161 countries.
The week-long programme showcases Selangor as a forward-looking state that is globally connected and driven by technology, culture, and the energy of its youth.
