SHAH ALAM, March 26 — The road monitoring technology developed by Infrasel Sdn Bhd has the potential to be expanded, thereby enhancing the quality of maintenance nationwide, said Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi.

His ministry aims to establish a collaboration with the state road maintenance company to enable the use of the smart management system at the Federal level.

“Infrasel has a highly sophisticated operations room for monitoring problematic locations in this state, and I am truly impressed to see how this system is already in place.

“The system allows for more effective and real-time monitoring of road conditions in Selangor. I foresee that, at the Works Ministry, we may also want to have similar facilities through collaboration with Infrasel,” Nanta said.

He was speaking to the press after visiting the Infrasel monitoring centre yesterday. Also present were Selangor Deputy State Secretary (Development) Dato’ Johary Anuar, and Infrasel's chief executive officer Mohammed Fariz Ghazali.

The minister added that the MyJalan complaint app can also be enhanced and expanded nationwide through the use of this technology to ensure that roads are safer and more comfortable for users.

“Road users do not concern themselves with whether a road belongs to the Federal or state government; they simply want safe and well-maintained roads.

“The key is to ensure that potholes, damages, and other issues are identified in real time so we have the latest information on damaged roads. The public does not want to wait days for repairs, which is why a data acquisition system is crucial,” Nanta said.

He also emphasised the importance of an efficient data collection system to identify potholes and other road damages that could lead to accidents.
