SHAH ALAM, Nov 6 — Team Selangor has mobilised 7,500 volunteers to be on standby for the northeast monsoon season, which began yesterday and is expected to persist until March 2025.

Its chief of operations Sadina Suffian said all community-level volunteers have received disaster management training from the Malaysian Armed Forces.

"We also hold monthly meetings to ensure all members are prepared and active," she told Media Selangor.

Team Selangor will conduct additional disaster management training for local coordinators in Section 13 tomorrow to enhance their capabilities.

Sadina said the team aims to recruit 800 more volunteers from higher education institutions, with Universiti Selangor students currently undergoing a two-month training programme.

"We often see high participation from youth. Currently, we are targeting young people in higher education institutions, who will receive the same skill training as other volunteers," she said.

Team Selangor, established in 2017, has been active in various community services, including operating state vaccination centres, cleaning flood victims' homes, and organising community environmental clean-ups.
