SHAH ALAM, Oct 26 — A full report on the landslide in Taman Melawati, Ampang Jaya, is expected after it is tabled at the Selangor Economic Action Council (MTES) next week.
Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said early studies have been done, which showed the site is safe for residents, with the Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ) having taken several follow-up actions.
“The land is privately owned and any restoration must be done by the owner. We will receive a full report at the MTES (meeting) next week or in the next two weeks.
“After that, more concrete follow-up steps will be taken by the state government,” said Amirudin.
He said this when met after officiating the Fiqh Ta’ayush: Peaceful Living Within the Asean Community seminar held in conjunction with the 9th National Muktamar here today.

On October 15, over 20 residents of homes on Jalan E6, Taman Melawati, were ordered to evacuate after a landslide due to heavy rain.
Twenty-three victims from seven families were placed at the Jalan E5 Community Hall temporary relief centre, while the rest chose to stay with family.
On October 17, all victims were allowed to go home after all agencies involved in recovery efforts after the landslide, but were advised to proceed with caution.
To avoid a recurrence, MPAJ affixed a temporary barrier on the slope where the landslide occurred.
