Fed govt allocates RM100 mln to overcome Taman Sri Muda floods

SHAH ALAM, Oct 18 — The Federal government has allocated RM100 million to implement a flood mitigation plan in Shah Alam's Taman Sri Muda area.

Kota Kemuning state assemblyman S. Preakas said the flood control project is expected to be completed by 2029.

“We need a design, and then we will build. I have been informed that the project will be fully completed by January 2029. Overall, all factors in Sri Muda will be considered to ensure no flooding occurs,” he said.

Speaking as a guest on the second season of 'Apa Cer YB' yesterday via SelangorTV's TikTok channel, Preakas said a contractor has already been appointed and the project is currently in the design phase.

He added that other efforts include the construction of the Taman Sri Muda pump house, which became fully operational in August, with the addition of three screw pumps to reduce the risk of major floods.

Regular monitoring of the area is conducted, along with community clean-up efforts to ensure no drains are clogged with rubbish, which could contribute to flash floods.

Taman Sri Muda, located in Section 25, was one of the areas severely affected by the major floods that hit the state in December 2021.
