SUBANG JAYA, June 23 — Invest Selangor Berhad's move to promote the Selangor International Business Summit (SIBS) has proven worthwhile, as there is a higher participation rate from foreign countries for this year's edition.

State executive councillor for investment, trade, and mobility Ng Sze Han said that in recent years, the state government agency has been actively conducting promotional series abroad, including in Indonesia, Thailand, and Vietnam, to seek opportunities for economic collaboration.

“The response has been very encouraging. Not only are foreign countries participating in SIBS, but many local companies and agencies also want to join.

“Therefore, this year we are organising it twice so more people can participate, thereby benefiting the economy,” he said during a press conference after officiating the Puchong Community Arts Festival today.

First held in 2016, SIBS has attracted the involvement of various government agencies and foreign countries, including China, Japan, Uganda, Kazakhstan, Korea, Turkey, Kenya, and Australia.

The summit features six main events: the Selangor International Expo (Food and Beverage) and the Selangor International Expo (Medical).

Also organised are the Selangor Industrial Park Expo, the Selangor Smart City and Digital Economy; the Selangor Research, Development and Innovation Expo; and the Asian Business Conference.

This year, the summit will take place in July and October. Its target for investment transactions is RM7 billion.

Last year, SIBS recorded RM6.12 billion in investment transaction value, four times higher than the initial RM1.5 billion target.
