PETALING JAYA, Nov 30 — The owners of 39 private lots have been subjected to caveat action by the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) for failing to clean up dirty and overgrown areas.

Deputy Mayor Datuk Aznan Hassan said each owner would be fined no more than RM1,000 under the Local Government Act 1976 and the Anti-Litter Bylaw (MBPJ 1999).

"Cleaning notices, under Section 74 of the Local Government Act 1976, which mandates that owners must carry out cleaning work within the specified notice period, were also issued," he said during the council's full meeting yesterday.

Aznan added that MBPJ would also undertake cleaning work on the respective land if no actions were taken, with all charges to be borne by the respective lot owners.
