SHAH ALAM, Sept 13 — The Selangor Saring free health screening program organised by the state government, which began last year, will continue at three locations this week, said the state executive councillor for public health Jamaliah Jamaluddin.
The first location will be at Dewan Jubli Perak in the State Secretariat Building on September 15, followed by the grounds of Madrasah Al-Ikhlas SS3/47 in Petaling Jaya on September 16, and then at Dewan MPKK Kampung Kuala Ampang in Ampang on September 17.
"The programme only involves physical examinations, blood tests, and urine tests. On Friday, it runs from 8am to 4pm, and from 8.30am to 12.30pm the next day.
"On Sunday, it runs from 8am to 2pm," she said, adding that several improvements will be made to Selangor Saring when it is organised next year, to ensure participants receive more benefits.
Selangor Saring was introduced to help residents detect diseases early on, especially those with a hereditary history of medical ailments, obese individuals, and those leading unhealthy lifestyles.
At a cost of RM3.4 million and fully funded by the state government, participants can undergo urine tests, eye examinations, cervical cancer screenings, breast and prostate examinations, and blood tests.
The programme this year has been expanded upon with the addition of several more screenings, including dental and ear examinations, as well as physiotherapy sessions.
