SHAH ALAM, Nov 28 — A total of 6,991 residents underwent free health screenings through the Selangor Saring free health screening programme this year, said state executive councillor for public health and the environment Jamaliah Jamaluddin.
Of this number, 38 per cent, or 2,673 participants, aged between 46 and 64 years, made up the largest age group undergoing these screenings.
“Overall, the Selangor Saring programme recorded 73 per cent female participation, equivalent to 5,080 women, while the remaining 27 per cent (1,911) were men,” she said.

Jamaliah was responding to Meru state assemblyman Mariam Abdul Rashid's query on the demographics of Selangor Saring's participants by age and gender, during the State Legislative Assembly session yesterday.
In addition, the state government is currently implementing a special health screening programme for senior citizens, managed by the non-governmental organisation BeVital.
She added that the primary criteria for participation in this screening programme are individuals aged 60 years and above.
“Through this pilot project, basic health assessments and frailty screenings for senior citizens will be conducted at identified locations with high elderly populations, such as Klang.
“Following the screenings, educational briefings, frailty exercise programmes, and physiotherapy treatments will be provided for participants identified as being at risk or facing frailty issues,” Jamaliah said.
