Over 90 pct of Meru’s infrastructure projects done, locals enjoy benefits

SHAH ALAM, July 21 – Over 90 per cent of infrastructure projects in Meru have been successfully completed over five years, said its incumbent assemblyman Mohd Fakhrulrazi Mokhtar.

Fakhrulrazi said the completed projects include road facilities and the restoration of drainage systems, effectively addressing past challenges.

“Almost all previously problematic infrastructure have been resolved, involving road projects and several drainage systems.

“All these projects are under the government’s responsibility. Most of the remaining issues are related to concession or private ownership,” he told Selangorkini.

Resolving infrastructure issues has been a core focus for Fakhrulrazi since his election in 2018.

He emphasised his commitment to reducing problems related to foreign workers, flooding, and waste overflow, which have been long-standing concerns for the community.

“I am particularly pleased we managed to reduce the flood problem. Previously, we had to face over six floods in a year, but now it’s only once a year.

“The flood issue was also addressed with the cooperation of the private sector. We are grateful that Top Glove company contributed around RM54 million to assist us,” he said.

During the presentation of Budget 2023, Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari announced the implementation of a flood retention pond construction project in Kampung Budiman, Meru, to the tune of RM20 million.

This project is part of a comprehensive flood mitigation plan, which includes canal projects in Taman Mutiara Bukit Raja and Sabak Bernam, with a total cost of RM45 million.
