SHAH ALAM, March 3 — The Selangor Saring free health screening programme organised by the state government for early detection of ailments has recorded approximately 22,513 registrations throughout 2022.

Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari said up to 49 per cent of those screened were revealed to require follow-up action for prevention and early treatment of their respective illnesses.

"This figure is almost half of the sample, and the initial follow-up steps will certainly contribute to their well-being," he said in a Facebook post on Wednesday (March 1).

Amirudin added Selangor Saring is offered for free to state residents as it is in line with the objective of creating a healthy society, per the goals of Kita Selangor Penyayang.

Preventive efforts are a necessity, to ensure Selangor residents possess and retain a quality of life, following the Covid-19 pandemic that has affected the community in social, economic, and health terms.

Running from May to September last year with a RM3.4 million allocation, Selangor Saring is aimed at individuals with a family history of hereditary ailments, those who are obese, and those leading unhealthy lifestyles.

In addition to physical screenings, Selangor Saring also offers blood and urine tests, eye tests, cervical and breast cancer tests, occult or colorectal stool blood tests, and prostate tests.

The scheme was improved for this year, with several more screenings types added, including dental and ear examinations, as well as physiotherapy sessions.
