SHAH ALAM, Jan 14 — More than 200 teams are participating in the Piala Budak Kampung championship for the Petaling district, gunning for RM 8,800 in total prizes.
State executive councillor for sports Mohd Khairuddin Othman said the fourth series of the tournament will see soccer events (Under 10 and 12), sepak takraw (Under 18) and netball (open).
"We received more than 200 entries for all three categories, including teams that registered as walk-ins from Sungai Buloh. A total prize of RM 8,800 is available for competing teams," he said.

Earlier today, Mohd Khairuddin officiated the tournament which took place at Stadium Mini MBSA Paya Jaras, and the Dewan MBSA Paya Jaras Tengah sepak takraw court.
The opening of two-day tournament, which ends tomorrow, was also attended by Sungai Buloh MP Datuk Ramanan Ramakrishnan.
The councillor added that 801 grassroots teams involving 10,000 participants have taken part since the tournament first began, and the state government intends to hold five more series in other districts.
"After this, the next series will be held at the Jeram state constituency in Kuala Selangor. We aim to organise the tournament in every district, with four already completed, leaving five more to go," he said.
