PETALING, Nov 13 — Over 3,000 Selangor Volunteers (Serve) members have been placed on standby to help, in the event of a massive deluge this month.

State executive councillor for youth development Mohd Khairuddin Othman said as of now, Serve members are not involved in rescue operations as the floods affecting several areas are still under control.

“We have two teams, namely Serve and Serve Rescue. The Serve Rescue members have undergone training with the Fire and Rescue Department, with all of them informed to be ready when needed.

“Hopefully, flooding will not occur. however, we are always on standby,” he said after participating in the campaign for Pakatan Harapan’s candidate for the Sungai Buloh parliamentary seat in the ongoing 15th general election, Datuk R Ramanan, earlier today.

Several areas in Klang and Selangor experienced floods earlier this week. As of 11am today, 697 victims have been evacuated to seven temporary relief centres.
