SHAH ALAM, Oct 13 — All hiking activities at permanent forest reserves in Selangor will be prohibited for three months beginning from November 1 following the monsoon season.

The Selangor State Forestry Department on a Facebook post said that all hiking, climbing routes and recreational activities in the forest reserves would be closed from November 1 until January 31, 2023.

The notice issued yesterday stated that the precautionary measure is to avoid unwanted accidents and risks to happen during the incoming monsoon season.

The northeast monsoon season usually brings heavy rain between November and March. In Selangor, wet weather is expected in the evenings till night time.

The state is expected to see an average rainfall of between 210 mm and 370 mm in November and December.
