SHAH ALAM, Aug 11 — The water supply to 397 affected areas in the Petaling, Kuala Lumpur and Hulu Langat districts is expected to be fully restored by 8pm.

Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Air Selangor) said the restoration period varies from one area to another, depending on location and distance to the consumer’s premise.

“As of 3.30pm, the Langat 2 water treatment plant has resumed its operation and the raw water treatment process has begun.

“Treated water supply will be restored to the affected consumers in stages once the water supply distribution system has been stabilised,” it said in a statement.

Water tankers will be mobilised for the benefit of consumers, with priority given to critical premises. Air Selangor said it is trying its best to minimise the disruption impact to affected consumers.

The Langat 2 water treatment plant was temporarily shutdown at 4.30am today, due to a chemical pollution incident at Sungai Semantan in Pahang.

The contamination was caused by an accident at KM75.9 on the Karak - Bentong Highway heading towards Kuala Lumpur, yesterday.

Following that, the 397 areas in Petaling, Kuala Lumpur and Hulu Langat experienced an unscheduled water supply disruption starting at 10am today.

Consumers can obtain information on scheduled water supply disruptions from time to time through Air Selangor’s official communication channels including the Air Selangor app, Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, or contact Air Selangor at 15300.

Questions and complaints can be submitted to the Help Centre on the website www.airselangor.com and the Air Selangor app.
