SHAH ALAM, July 18 — A number of state assemblymen have expressed hope that the First Selangor Plan (RS-1) which will be tabled next week will outline identity and cultural development elements for the local community.
Balakong state assemblyman Wong Siew Ki said this is related to the residents' economy and requires long-term planning.

"For example, identity development can be highlighted via local tourism. If we want to improve the economy, then tourism is one of the things we should focus on," she said when contacted.
Siew Ki is also hoping RS-1 will focus on climate change since Selangor is expected to be the state most seriously impacted due to the rapid development of infrastructure facilities.
Meanwhile, Bukit Lanjan state assemblyman Elizabeth Wong said women's empowerment and environmental sustainability are among the issues that deserve attention in RS-1.
"We want women to be involved in all sectors, including development planning, whereas environmental issues involve climate change.
"As a developed state, this aspect in Selangor needs to be planned as best as possible and organised so it can serve as an example to the other states," she said.
For Taman Templer state assemblyman Mohd Sany Hamzan, RS-1 should take into account the people's well-being for the next five to 10 years, in light of the increased migration rate from other states to Selangor.

He is confident the state government can plan for this by providing better opportunities for employment, housing and education for children.
"If Selangor's population increases to eight million, at least we are prepared for that. This proves the Selangor government is smart and responsible," Mohd Sany said.
Minggu lalu, Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari launched the RS-1 2021 - 2025 Pre-Launch Symposium at the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) Convention Center.
He said RS-1 will focus on four main principles including the economy, social, sustainability and governance to achieve the Smart State Agenda by 2025.
A clear framework will be announced during its launch on July 25, in conjunction with the opening of the Selangor State Legislative Assembly.
