SHAH ALAM, Oct 25 — A total of 280 members and 10 executive councillors of Selangor Youth Movement (PeBS) received their letter of appointment from the Menteri Besar, yesterday.
Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said PeBS is a rebranded and restructured programme from the previous Local Youth Movement (PeBT) which was carried out since 2009.
“The handover of appointment letters to its recipients is proof of the state government’s recognition and trust to youth leaders in shaping the direction for the state.
“I hope PeBS leader will be actively involved in ensuring the success of the state government’s programmes and policies, to collaborate in shaping the future of Selangor,” he said during a press conference after the handover ceremony at Dewan Jubli Perak, here, yesterday.
Amirudin said PeBS now have to focus on 10 cores instead of six cores previously, that includes education and training; community; networking and volunteering; arts and culture as well as youth and fitness.
“Other subjects are leadership and organisation; wellbeing and health; internationalisation; entrepreneurs and jobs; information, communication and technology as well as religion and spirituality.
“I believe these cores will bring success to each PeBS member. However, what is more important is (for them to know) that each action and decision brings meanings to the future.
“As a youth, you should be braver and more open-minded, otherwise you will end up staying at the same spot for the rest of your life. I hope PeBS members will always be brave and enthusiastic in carrying out their tasks according to the set core,” he said.
Those who received the appointment letters will be mobilised to all constituencies, to build relations and collaboration between the state government and youth groups in Selangor.
