SHAH ALAM, June 19 — The efficiency of several daily services including solid waste collection have improved significantly due to monitoring by the Smart Selangor C5i Operations Centre (SSOC), or the Selangor Command Centre.

Smart Selangor Delivery Unit (SSDU) managing director Dr Fahmi Ngah said the smart command centre, which began its operation early this year, has helped increase solid waste collection efficiency by 30 per cent.

According to him, the efficiency level of other services such as the Selangor Smart Bus has increased by 80 per cent, while the management period for 59 disaster incidents has decreased by 75 per cent.

“For example, for the monitoring of garbage trucks and Selangor Smart Bus, we monitor consumer complaints as well as real-time data movement based on the GPS tracking devices that are compulsory to be installed.

"If the truck or bus does not move according to schedule, the command centre will give a warning," he said when contacted.

He added that Covid-19-related phone calls handled by the Corporate Division of the Selangor State Secretary are now more organised with an average of 60 calls a day.

SSOC, which operates from the Dewan Jubli Perak, next to Selangor State Secretariat Building here, was set up in line with Selangor's vision to become a Smart State by 2025.

The centre houses several key state agencies involved in day-to-day operations such as on buses, solid waste collection, disaster management and security.

In addition, SSOC is also able to provide feedback and the latest information on the state government's efforts to overcome Covid-19.
