SHAH ALAM, May 12 — The Selangor government is in the final stages of reviewing the extension of the Smart Selangor Action Plan 2025 to 2030 to keep the state’s digital agenda moving and meet present demands.
State executive councillor for innovation Dr Mohammad Fahmi Ngah said the review is expected to be completed within the next two to three months.
“We started with the Smart Selangor programme in 2016 until 2025 (updated as the Smart Selangor Action Plan 2025 in 2020).
“We are at the final stage in reviewing the extension of the programme until 2030. There are several things that still need to be addressed, maybe in two or three months (it will be completed),” he said after launching the Jelajah Saya Digital (JSD)@ Shah Alam programme, organised by the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC), here today.
Fahmi said the first phase of the action plan is mainly focused on providing digital facilities and amenities for people to use.
“In the second stage, we would like to see the effectiveness of these facilities and how they benefit the people.
“As for the following stage, it includes training for civil servants involved in the Smart State operations,” he said.
Furthermore, Fahmi stated that the state government remains committed to giving the younger generation better employment options in the digital sector.
“The manufacturing industry in Selangor is in the process of upgrading and promoting the Internet of Things (IoT) and robotics-based industries that require smart controllers.
“Selangor is also exploring various new fields through various initiatives, including developing a drone technology testing centre in Bestari Jaya (with various fields), including airspace management methods,” he added.
