SHAH ALAM, June 10 — Selangor has set up a special committee to oversee the management and control of the spread of Covid-19 at factories and industrial sectors.
Dato Seri’ Amirudin Shari said the Special Committee on Health Control Compliance for Industries will ensure adherence by all parties in terms of health control as well as assist in the implementation of vaccination programmes for economic frontliners.
“A number of cases and new clusters had started from workplaces. The state government has taken the proactive measure in initiating the Preventing and Detecting Outbreaks at Ignition Sites (POIS) programme.
“The three-month programme has provided a holistic solution to curb the spread of Covid-19 at workplaces. As of May 30, more than 120 companies involving 50,000 workers have participated in the programme,” said Amirudin during the virtual announcement of the Kita Selangor Package 2.0 yesterday.
POIS was introduced on January 6 by the Selangor Task Force for Covid-19 (STFC) to prevent and reduce the number of workplace clusters.
Amirudin said the special committee will be chaired by former director of Selangor’s State Health Department Datuk Dr Khalid Ibrahim, Bangi MP and former International Trade and Industry Deputy Minister Ong Kian Ming and Selangor Task Force Operations (STFO) director Dr Muhammad Farhan Rusli.
The state administration has allocated RM500,000 for the programme under the Kita Selangor Package 2.0 worth RM551.56 million.
The stimulus package is said to benefit 1.6 million people in the state and consists of three strategies covering 25 programmes.
