KAJANG, FEB 28: Protests against the proposal to build a Chinese graveyard in Kampung Bukit Cerakah has been brought to the Selangor State Economic Executive Council (MTES) meeting.

Dato’ Menteri Besar, Dato’ Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali said, he has asked the Kuala Selangor District Council (MDKS) to present a report to review the protest memorandum.

“I have received the initial report after the memorandum was given by a group of individuals who protest nevertheless we are still looking into it.

“I have asked the District Council (Kuala Selangor) to submit a report and we shall discuss in the next MTES meeting. We will look into the merit of the protest.

“But we also have to clarify this matter to these protestors,” he said.

Last January 11, about 300 residents from five villages in Kuala Selangor protested against the graveyard project proposal due to its location which is viewed as inappropriate and too near the houses.

The five villages are Kampung Felda Bukit Cherakah, Kampung Bukit Kapar Tambahan, Kampung Bukit Hijau, Kampung Bukit Kerayong and Bandar Puncak Alam.

Following that, a three-pages memorandum with 2000 signatures of the villagers were handed over to Selangor State Secretary’s Building last January 19.
