KLANG, OCT 7: The 50-year-old bridge at Sungai Satu, Pulau Ketam here will be rebuilt at an estimated cost of RM500,000.
Local Government, New Village Development and Illegal Factory Legalisation Exco Ean Yong Hian Wah said that initial plans on the proposal have been prepared by the Klang Municipal Coucil (MPK).
He said that the original wooden structure will be replaced with a concrete bridge with a length of 40 metres and width of 3 metres.
"These are just preliminary estimates, while the exact dimensions will be determined by MPK’s assessment.
"The project is expected to be implemented and completed in early 2017," he told reporters after a working visit at Pulau Ketam on October 7.
Also present were MPK Engineering Director Zamri Othman and State Economic Planning Unit (Upen) Assistant Director for the Local Authorities Section Nazmi Ahmad Razali.
Earlier this year, a total of RM190,000 had been allocated for the construction of a pedestrian walkway measuring 190 metre-long over the waters of the island.
