SHAH ALAM, AUG 17: The Selangor government remains committed to conserving Paya Indah Wetland (PIW), with its 450.76 acres that has been gazetted by the Department Of Wildlife and National Parks (Perhilitan) as a wetland reserve.

PIW, including Lot 4827 and Lot 3974, was gazetted under the National Land Act, will remain in order to preserve its status as an eco-tourism attraction in the state.

Tourism, Consumer Affairs and Environment Exco Elizabeth Wong said that currently the area gazetted as PIW remains preserved and there has been no application to change its status has been reported.

In fact, wildlife such as hippopotamus and crocodiles still can be seen there.

On the other hand, she said, the land surrounding PIW is privately owned and can be developed if conditions set by authorities are met.

Elizabeth stated that wild baseless allegations have been made recently and any unsatisfied party should go directly to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Agency regarding the issue.
