SHAH ALAM, July 25 — Saudi Arabia will send medical aid, including one million doses of Covid-19 vaccines, to Malaysia to help the country in tackling the pandemic, Saudi Gazette reported today.

According to the report, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, had directed Saudi Arabia’s charity arm, King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Action (KSrelief), to send immediate support to Malaysia with medical supplies.

Citing a statement issued by KSrelief supervisor-general Abdullah Al-Rabeeah, the report stated that the royal order was in response to the request made by Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein during a discussion with Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

"We will coordinate with the office of the Malaysian Foreign Minister to secure a contract with one of the approved international vaccine makers to supply the required quantities directly to Malaysia," Al-Rabeeah was quoted by Saudi Gazette.

Al-Rabeeah, who is also an adviser at the Royal Court, added that King Salman’s order had reflected the depth of the strong relations between Malaysia and Saudi Arabia.
