KAJANG, March 27 — The free Covid-19 community screening programme organised by the Selangor government has continued today at Jalan Medan Belimbing, Seri Kembangan, to control the spread of the pandemic.

Residents and industrial workers around Taman Belimbing, Bandar Damai Perdana, Taman Juara Jaya and Kampung Baru Balakong started queuing up as early as 8.30am to undergo the screening using the Antigen Rapid Test Kit (RTK-Ag).

Those attending complied with the standard operating procedures (SOPs) by registering through the SELangkah (Step In Safely) app and taking their body temperature.

A total of 30 Selcare Clinic medical officers, who were  assisted by the Islamic Medical Association of Malaysia’s Response and Relief Team (Imaret), conducted the testing on members of the public.

Enforcers of the Kajang Municipal Council (MPKj) and members from the Zone 6 Residents’ Representative Council were also present at the location to monitor strict compliance to the SOPs.

On January 20, the Selangor government had announced an allocation of RM6 million through the 'Kita Selangor' Package to spearhead the statewide free mass Covid-19 community screening in order to contain the spread of the pandemic through early detection.

The free screenings have so far been conducted at Sections 19, 7 and 25 halls in Shah Alam; Pandamaran Jaya multipurpose hall, Klang; PJS 6 community hall, Petaling Jaya; Sungai Besar Stadium, Sabak Bernam; Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ) multipurpose hall in Bandar Bukit Puchong and Taman Batu Tiga, Subang Jaya.

The programme is expected to benefit 50,000 residents with focus placed on high-risk groups such as senior citizens, low-income (B40) group as well as undergraduate students in Selangor.
