Covid-19: Nestle sets up quarantine transit station for close contacts

SHAH ALAM, March 4 — To support the Health Ministry's efforts in handling close contacts of Covid-19 patients who have to be self-quarantined, Nestle Malaysia Bhd today launched its Quarantine Transit Station at Pegasus Hotel, here.

Nestle Malaysia chief executive officer Juan Aranols said the food and beverage company would bear the expenses of the station which was specially set up for the B40 and the low-income group who do not have the facilities for home-quarantine.

“The station will provide free accommodation as well as delicious and nutritious meals created with great love by our Maggi chefs.

“Needless to say the standard operating procedures will be strictly adhered to at all times,” he told reporters at the launch of the Nestle Quarantine Transit Station by Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, here, today.

He said the station which opens today would operate for two months after which Nestle would assess the situation should there be a need for the period to be extended.

Meanwhile, Amirudin said the state government welcomed the cooperation of the private and public sectors in efforts to address the Covid-19 situation in Selangor.

This is the first time the government is collaborating with the private sector to open a Covid-19 quarantine transit centre in the state," he said.

He said the Nestle Quarantine Transit Station would focus on close contacts of Covid-19 patients living in the central and northern areas, while another transit centre at the Islamic Training Institute of Malaysia (ILIM) would cater to those in the southern areas.

"They will be placed at these transit centres and if they are found positive, they will be sent to the hospital or the low-risk quarantine and treatment centre (PKRC) at the Malaysian Agro Exposition Park (MAEPS) Serdang," he said.
